The Photographer
When I was younger I regularly came to Scotland on holiday where my passion for landscape photography was born. Though I seldom returned during my career in electronics and education I continued to find time to develop my photographic skills. Back in 2000 the opportunity came to rediscover the Scotland of my youth and I made several tours during which I made a startling discovery. On the road back from each visit I was struck by the conviction that I was leaving home rather than returning there. In fact I became quite emotional.
Life has a way of coming up with the unexpected. A chronic spinal problem suddenly put paid to my career and a number of other circumstances combined to make it possible to retire to the landscape where I feel most at home. The Isle of Skye.
The photographs I show here are the product of my new love affair with Skye. You will not find images from the highest peaks or the most inaccessible lochans, my ability to walk is now very severely curtailed. What you will find is the beauty of Skye that can be enjoyed by all, collected and interpreted by someone who has the time to be there at the right moment and able to recognise it.
For those interested most of the images here have been captured with Fuji S2 and Nikon D2 series cameras.
